Flower Power

An unexpected pairing of marbled paper and fabric and fresh cut flowers finds commonality through color in this series of “FLOWER POWER” digital photographs.  Popular culture is paramount here with fresh blooms and petals superimposed on backdrops I created by an old, classic art technique of Italian marbling. 

Flowers, given as expressions of love, of gratitude, respect, hospitality, remembrance, apology or support, are powerful assertions of human connections. Never before has the need for human connection been so underscored. In the cacophony of today’s world, our common humanity often seems forgotten. I hope these images, these connections between the old and the new, these symbols of love, compassion, and societal interconnectivity convey to viewers my undaunted hope for a brighter, more colorful future.
